About this site

This site exists because I kept watching the same expensive mistake.

I have spent my career in cybersecurity. I founded and exited two security companies, Innovera and Atar Labs, the latter a security orchestration and response platform. Across both, and in every security program I have worked with since, I saw teams build beautiful dashboards on top of data they could not actually defend. The charts looked authoritative. The moment a board member asked "is this right, and can you prove it," they fell apart.

So this site does two honest things.

It explains security dashboards in plain language. What they are, how the types differ, how the tools compare. No hype, no "this one tool changes everything," because that is not how it works.

And it tells you the part the tool vendors leave out: a dashboard is only a picture of your data, and the picture is worthless if the data underneath is not consistent, recorded and traceable. That is the data layer beneath the dashboard, and it is the thing I actually care about.

A disclosure, because it matters

I now run a company, Metric Maestro, that builds exactly this missing layer, a security KPI system of record. So I have a stake in you understanding the problem.

I have tried to keep the tool comparisons and explainers genuinely useful and fair regardless of that, because a site that just funnels everything to my product would be both dishonest and useless to you. The argument here stands on its own: the dashboard was never the hard part, the record underneath it is. That is true whether or not you ever look at what I build.

If the explainers help you, that is the point. If they also help you see why the data layer matters, even better.

Start anywhere on the home page, or go straight to the idea this whole site is built around: the data layer beneath the dashboard.
